We are called to gather as the Body of Christ each weekend. Our ushers assist in directing our members to open seats, take up the stewardship collection and direct our parishioners to receive Holy Communion
The ministry of the ushers has somewhat changed in the last 15 years. Once thought of as the people who only found seats for the people and brought up the collection, is now more encompassing of the responsibilities we all have in to our family of faith to welcome those with whom we worship.
Sometime the titles for this ministry are greeter or hospitality minister; all of these are correct. This group is the first encounter with the people who are entering the church. It is an important ministry as you set the tone of the whole religious experience at St. Joseph's Church.
The need for our parish is that we have teams of ministers who rotate every two or three weeks allowing our volunteer ministers time to sit with their families on the Sunday's they are not scheduled. The only requirements are a friendly smile to make parishioners feel welcome and part of our parish family.
