“And it happened that, while He was with them at table, He took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized Him, but He vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while He spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?’” (Luke 24:30-32)
Jesus Christ is present to us in the Sacred Scriptures and in the Mass, the Breaking of the Bread. The
method of studying the Sunday Old and New Testament readings, coordinated with the
Catechism of the Catholic Church
, helps us to cover the Deposit of Faith in three years. We meet weekly on Fridays from 6:15 to 7:15 P.M. year-round, except for major holidays and the month of July.
The annual schedule can be found in the racks in the back of the church or by using the
link to the left
Participants can use these sessions as starting points for studying as much, or as little of each topic, as suits their life styles and their spiritual advancement. They choose the homework as they wish. We let God lead us where He will by His holy word. There are no obligations. It is a peaceful time to spend opening our hearts and minds to the working of God the Holy Spirit.
This helps us to shape our lives and consciences according to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and to participate with Christ configuring us to Himself, making us ready for Him to present us to our Heavenly Father for all eternity.
